Adult Choir room This group is available to all 18 and older who are seeking not just to be worship leaders, but lead worshippers. It is our goal to be transparent and authentic in our worship as we celebrate through all musical styles from classical to contemporary. There is no audition necessary. The Worship Choir leads during the morning services as well as seasonal events such as the Oakwood Christmas Celebration, The Summer Day of Praise and God And Country Day. 6 Steps Student Worship Team Practices held Sunday 2:00pm to 3:30pm; Kid's Club - Fall and Spring only
6 Steps Worship Team is available to students from 6th grade to 12th grade. It is more than just a choir… singers, dancers, percussionists, guitarists, technicians and actors are all needed in this unique ministry. 6 Steps Worship Team participates in Oakwood's Christmas community event, Heart of Hope, presents an annual spaghetti dinner, opens for OSM events, and culminates each year with a summer mission trip. Past trips include the greater New Orleans area, St. Louis and Chicago, Atlanta in 2008, and most recently Inner City Houston.
Oakwood Children's Music Activities Wednesday 5:30 - 6:30 pm Children's Building- Fall and Spring only Children's Music Activities strive to provide the opportunity for children and pre-teens to experience worshipping the Lord through fun and encouraging music as well as seasonal presentations. Each child enjoys playing instruments, singing and drama in each of these 7 graded choirs - 3 yrs, 4 yrs, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, 4th/5th grade. The graded music choirs culminate each spring with a musical in May as well as participating in the Oakwood Christmas Celebration.
Oakwood Orchestra/ Praise Band Tuesday 7:30 - 9:00 pm The Orchestra and Praise Band is available to adults and youth in the 10th grade and above. The Praise Band consists of electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass, drums, auxiliary percussion and keyboard. Trumpet, Trombone and saxophones also play in the Praise Band. All other woodwind, string, and brass players participate in the Oakwood Orchestra. The Orchestra plays on special Sunday mornings and all major seasonal events.
Praise Teams Wednesday 6:30 - 9:00 pm Each praise team member participates as a lead worshipper during special events and Sunday morning services along with the Worship Choir. Auditions are required and are held quarterly.
